Just in time for the spooky season, Beat-Boot-Ique has released an unnervingly eerie (and good!) compilation of mashups chock full of ghosts and goblins and all your usual Halloween culprits. The quality of the production on this album is top-notch, and there are some truly standout tracks (I’m particularly digging Celebrity Murder Party’s The 13 Sins of Scooby Doo and DJ Magnet’s Witchcraft Season). The works that made the final cut show a truly broad swathe of what kind of songs are coming out of the scene at the moment – there’s everything from your standard A+B to classic cut-up work and the usual tracks that just shouldn’t work but end up making you nod your head along to the beat anyhow.

The album can be downloaded here.

And, of course, there’s a Viper Pilot track in there near the end of Side A. Black Shadow Demon is at the moment available exclusively through the compilation. It’s an ethereal and complex mix of hip-hop legend DJ Shadow, 70s prog-rockers Uriah Heep and the legendary Black Sabbath.
